how to manage?

  #2

The first step is generally to stop or minimize the use of the neuroleptic drug. (However, for patients with a severe underlying condition this may not be a feasible option). Replacing the neuroleptic drug with substitute drugs may help some patients. Other drugs such as benzodiazepines, adrenergic antagonists, and dopamine agonists may also be beneficial.

from what i know is that

Tardive dyskinesia is irreversible .But you should follow the following if a pt drops in :

1. discontinue antipsychotic drug or reduce the dosage.

2. eliminate all drugs with central anticholinergic effects( benztropine etc)

3.diazepam may be used...may be helpful becuase of its sedative effect .

If anybody can add few more pts..we all welcome it
