Hi!! I have a little problem here and I'm kinda gemmed.

Here goes: I applied and received a B1/B2 visa for a research opportunity in the US. I wrote on the DS156 that the date I'm gonna arrive in the US will be July 1st and I'm gonna stay in the US 4 months (so untill October 30th). I didn't get my passport back (the courier didn't arrive), but I guess they'll write on the visa Issue date: 03-14-07 (when I applied for it) and the Expire date: 10-30-07.

My question: I want to go to the US on June 15th. Will they let me in the country at the port of entry? I mean, do I get the visa from the moment I apply 'till October 30th or from the date I wrote in the DS156? Will the Embassy send the stuff that I wrote in my DS to the Port of Entry???

Thanks a lot,friends.

Manu

well again. US visa is different. the date on the visa does not mean the period you are allowed to stay in the US but it means the period during which you should ENTER the US. at the "port of entry" in the airport, the officer decides how long to let you stay. e.g. if the visa says 3 months and you enter at the last day of the 3rd months, the officer may let you stay there for as long as he feels like, right from that date!

but do the airport guys know about DS-156? i don`t know. but i would like to know too.
anybody knows this one? do they double-check what you say with DS-156 you filled? what if you want to stay longer than you said on the form?
