You have to send a copy of your medical school diploma to ECFMG in order for them to verify your credentials and be ECFMG certified to apply through ERAS, so you would have to apply very late in the best case scenario..., I think it´s gonna be difficult..., can´t say impossible but close to impossible... Any other opinion?...

To complete the credentials verification, ECFMG will need your med school diploma by January. If your creds are not verified by then you will be withdrawn from the match automatically. Why don't you check the ECFMG bulletin, I'm sure more detailed answer is there. Good Luck...

To acne: here is something from the ECFMG website: Obtaining California Application Status Letter Please contact: Medical Board of California 1426 Howe Ave., Suite 54 Sacramento, CA 95825-3236 Tel: 916-263-2499 You may also request their application packet by e-mail from webmaster@medbd.ca.gov. For more information on obtaining an Application Status Letter, go to www.medbd.ca.gov. NOTE: The California Board needs several months to issue the requested letter. Hope it will be helpful.

To some, but not to all programs... You need to check for the programs' requisites.

Dear all, Currently I only have Step 1 score (95). My test date for CS and CK are early Aug and late Oct. No USCE. No USLOR. Should I join the 2008 race or spend more time next year for USCE+USLOR for better chance of better program? I hope to get in OBGYN. Thanks.

One more Q, does anyone use/have experience with PS/LOR/FMG friendly list services? I know my English is not good so I definitely need some experts to look at my PS. Thanks.

To bear, Theorically, you are not late for 2008 Match but the fact that you are not ECFMG certified by Sep 1st will be a draw back in your case. If I were you, I would go ahead and apply on Sep 1st with step 1 score (which is really good). The other scores will come later. You loose nothing (except time +money, of course) if dont match this year and you can of course improve your CV with USCE for the next match if you dont match this year. OBGYN is tough by the way. 78% filled by AMGs (if i'm not mistaking) and only 6 positions left unfilled this year in over the country. I dont think you need any services. This forum contains a lot of valuable information. You can ask and someone will answer. You can write your PS and ask for an american friend to proof read for you. You can search on Google on how to write a PS. There are many samples. Good luck.

Catmd is right... you can go for the match but having the USCE as a plan B... Try to apply for rotations these days... if you apply after the match result you won't have much time.

Dear Catmd, Thank you for your advice. Just hope that OBGYN wouldn't be that competitive this year. Dear Isther, Can you give me some more info regarding applying for rotations? My friends say I can not apply without ECFMG certificate. Are there any other ways? Thank you.

That is not 100% true, several programs allow visitors without ECFMG certificate. There are several hospitals... to start you can google "observership"... each program has thier own eligibility criteria for their observers Good Luck

To UWstep3, If I understand your post correctly, you could do step 3 and 2 months of observership before the coming match. I think its a good plan. Go for it. For me, Step 3 + 2m observership is far better than 3m observershhip without step 3. Besides, do you need visa? If you have GC you dont need step 3 now, go for USCE. Good luck.

Hi redsky, Thank you, buddy. I think if your step 1 and 2 scores are not as impressive as you want, you should score high on step 3 to improve your CV. But if you are doing your residency, I think it is not very important, we just need to knock it out.
