Hi, SSCOOL: I think if you study at home full time, you can manage to pass all the steps before the deadline. Check the timetable (for 2007 match) on NRMP website, then budget your time. Your step 1 memory is still fresh, it helps in your step 2 CK preparation. Relax and then focus on your study, you have your strength other than a score, go!

Count me in guys. I am an old grad.1999 with low scores. Didn't get matched this year and have no hope of getting matched next year ( as the scores will remain the same). Good luck to all of us.

Hi, SSCOOL, I just checked Oasis. It is too early to get the token for 2008. Now you can only get tokens for residency started on July 2007. Just be patient to wait for a while, focus on your study first, relax and enjoy your study!

and me! I was so hurt by a "nice-word" PD that I am not even sure if I should apply IM again. Can we trust those PDs? That university PD let me wonder if there was any real Christian PD in the world, although he always announce in his web site that he is a pure Christian. Still very unhappy about being unmatched...

Hi, SSCOOL First Aid was my only mateiral for CS. All the cases in the real test were very common. The key is not what case you encounter; it depends on whether you take it calmly or not. Practise the cases and try to act the way you practise with your partner in the real test, you will be fine.

If you are IMG, USMLE step 3 is important to some programs, even if they don't officially require it. In Jan. 07 I called several uni. programs, which neither rejected me nor granted me an iv. I was told by a PC that the reason I was not granted iv is because I didn't pass step 3. Some programs experienced in the past that IMGs had problems passing step3, so they would prefer those with have clear it. One PD I interviewed with actually told me to take step 3 by the end of Jan.

To SSCOOL: Accent is not a big problem so long as you speak clearly to make yourself understood. On the other hand, those standard pts are from different background and may have very different accent, but on my test day, most of them spoke slowly which was very helpful with my understanding. Occationally, I missed something I just frankly said "excuse me",they would repeat and slow down a little bit. Most SPs are very friendly, they will help you as much as they can. For the transitions, I think the structure of your practise is good, I also practised by this way. Just remember, don't panic in the real test, you will make it.

Each program has a particular selection criteria for their applicants... that's why you have to do the research on each program before sending the application... to see if you have what they are looking for...

A strong LOR is always better... by strong I mean that it has to describe how good asset you are with examples of your performance and description of your nice personality... and among strong LOR's, the ones from renown univ hospitals are better than the ones from private practice

TO SSCOOL: Good luck to your up coming step 2 CS! You will do great! Question: Hi, everyone: I want to find some place to do externship, but the local medical groups respond that they don't offer anything like externship/observership. It is harder than I thought. Any idea what kind of hospital shall I try around?
