hey guys, should we attach our photos to all applications? Will that help or not help us get more interviews?
And when some programs say 3 required LORs, do you think adding 1 more will discredit you- make u seem like u do not understand the requirements stated.
I was thinking that they will be really tired looking through so many LORs and was thinking I should leave the least strong LOR out.
Any comments?

sarika, thank you so much for the help. Another question, it seems some programs are not described as what kind of program it is on Freida. so how can I know about these programs?

  #353

hey guys, when you fill the CAF, experience part, do you fill in the description of your job?

  #354

Tolito, wow you definitely are going all out with the specialties. I hope you match this year....in Ortho nod

Dunno abt getting interview calls with the photo (i feel it does influence, however much it is denied)...but i think importantly it helps them r'mber your interview performance at time of ranking. go ahead and attach it anyway, 'we are beautiful'! smiling face
I had the same concern about the LOR requirements....choosing which lors to send is hard. and i do not wish to irk the PC/PD by attaching 4 when they ask only for two! what's everyone else doing about it?

  #355

I heard from some fellows that if all your recommendation letters are strong, 4 LOR won't hurt you, but will not give you much more credit either. Some programs may just pick up 2 or 3 to read.

  #356

To clarify the application time, 12:01am on 9/1 EST is the time when you can start.

  #357

Another information may be useful for people who are still waiting for their documents to be uploaded: during weekend and the laborday, ECFMG will continue to scan and upload the documents. And you can apply before all documents available. They will attach your upcoming documents to your profile once they are scanned.

anastamosis,

It's in MyEras > documents > usmle transcripts > request USMLE transcript.

When you click "request", you get a question at the end:

"Do you authorize the automatic retransmission of your USMLE transcript if Step results, which were not available at the time your request was processed, become available during the current ERAS cycle?"

So I was unsure what to select, YES or NO

There is also a warning:

ATTENTION

Be very careful when answering the question below - it CANNOT be changed.
By checking yes, you forgo the right to see any newly included examination results before the transcript is sent to the residency programs.
If unsure, check no. If, after you have seen your new examination results, you want it transmitted after all, you can do it yourself. You will need to go to Documents and click on "Retransmit USMLE Transcript".
Updated examination results cannot be transmitted to only a subset of programs. If you request an updated USMLE transcript be retransmitted, it will be sent to every program that previously received it.
Please be aware that only you can re-transmit your transcript. Nobody can do that for you.

Hi guys...
I have a question about the previous training part in the ERAS application.
I am IMG from INdia, and we have to do house surgency after we graduate, ie we clear the final year exam.Where should I write about this? IN the trainig section or the work experience section.

If in the training section, then shoud I break it up into the fouir main specialties?
Please let me know

  #361

Thanks drk1980!
I think we should put up all the photos as u have said! Haha.. yup, we are all beautiful!
Think I will just send in 3 LORs in the end, and 4 for those that request 4. In case they pick out 2 or 3 to read, at least they choose from the better 3.
Called some programs, and found out that some programs did not sponsor visas and only accept US citizens and green card holders. So only 24 programs left on my list.

It is time at last!!! Good luck to us all!!! grinnod

I uploaded my photo last night, released usmle transcript a week ago and LORs were sent in JUly. When will my photo, LOR and usmle transcript be uploaded.
In the half sleepy-half nervous state last night, i may not have noticed which programs require 4 lor. I have always assigned just 3 LOR to all teh programs i applied. Does that mean my application will be incomplete?
Did you guys come across any programs that required 4 LORs?

  #367

Hi Sarika. I came across 1 that required 4 ( as written on FREIDA). It was a psych program. Are you applying to psych? Some were 3. Those that did not specify, I sent in 3.

  #368

hey thanks chrystal, i am applying to 30 psych as back up. i will have to go back and check now.

Hi raves. You can apply before your supporting documents are uploaded and the supporting documents will attach to your file when they are scanned. But I am not sure what will the programs do with your incomplete applications.
