Someone told me there was a Q on the exam asking about what 2nd messenger is involved for oxytocin? Is it the same as ADH to activate Gq and PIP2 , DAG thing?

  #2

Gq -->phospholipase C--> IP3 and DAG
second messenger for
alfa1 adrenorec, H1, V1, oxytocin, AT11, M, releasing hormones - TRH, GnRH, GHRH (except for CRH)

  #3

second messenger for oxtocin is IP3 (PIP2 /DAG).. same as that for adh V1 FOR CONSTRICTION OF VASCULAR SMOOTH MUSCLES.. but diff from V2 adh (which increases water absorption in distal tubule) via cAMP.
