Hello all: My Score: 246/99 Exam Date: 2/23/2007 Release Date: 3/14/2007 USMLE World: finished 1 time through with ~ 65% correct, mix of timed and tutor mode, went over every question whether right or wrong. Primary Reading: First Aid and Boards and Wards Study Time: Three wks of solid studying (I am fourth year student at US med school) I have been an observer of this forum since I took the exam and just wanted to post a couple of thoughts that may help people relax after taking the exam. Walking out of the exam I was convinced I had failed. While the first two blocks were ok (not good...just OK), the rest of the exam felt like a disaster. I was unsure on most questions and after the exam looked up the questions that I could remember only to find that I had answered incorrectly. I also remember waking up in the morning remembering yet another question that I got wrong. While I am sure that there are some people who walk out of the exam confident and end up doing well, I think the exam is designed to be very vague and make you think. Once the exam is done try and relax and remember that you studied hard and the odds of passing are very much in your favor. Lastly, there was some post on here a while back about the the exam certificate that you receive after the exam having some sort of prognostic significance as to whether you passed or failed. I freaked out when I read this because my exam certificate said "Your testing session for USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge has ended". This coupled with my exam experience left me unecessarily stressed out and miserable. So please, don't believe everything you read on here and if you do post something like that make sure it is accurate. Good luck everyone!

Keep in mind that my advice is what I think would work for me...I think if I had to re-study for step 2 I would focus more on doing questions and really studying the answers. What I mean is go through and answer a series of questions and then immediately afterwards thoroughly analyze all of the answer choices i.e. why the right one is right and the wrong ones wrong. Try to understand the concepts they are testing. If you don't know something they are referring to in the explanation then look it up (in a real textbook not a review book). Just to give you an idea, for each block of 46 questions (taken timed and mixed from all subjects) with review of answers would take me about three hours. I did 2-3 46 question blocks a day for about the first two weeks of studying. My reading of First Aid and Boards and Wards was really just to take a break from doing questions. I spent only a few hours a day reading. For the last week I stopped reading and was doing 4 46 question blocks a day. The reason why I am saying that I would focus on questions is that the many questions that I remember getting wrong tested concepts that I know were tested in UW but that I couldn't remember. Hope that helps good luck!
