hi all there ok now where to start i was a silent member of this forum for i guess quite a long time.I have been trying to study for step 1 since june 06 but all in vain i simply couldnt I graduated in 2004 i have a loving husband and an eight month old cute & adorable daughter. My husband is a doctor too infact he's an ENT Surgeon but he has no time for my studies as he's working 8to 8 sometimes 24hrs in times of emergencies and he hates my books its not that he doesnt want me to give the steps infact he is always telling me that i can do it, its not difficult but, dont bother me with this stuff i m so tired with it do what ever u want to do so for the hubby part, hes very co-operative Ok so atleast he encourages me So here goes my hubby
And what to say about my little princess she's so cute that i dont want to send her away from me not even for few hours Oh God there goes my dream for usmle
But now i have made up my mind that no matter what happens i m going to study no more family life excuses My plan to study is i will leave my princess to a day care at 9 a.m go to the library at 10a.m be there till 4p.m pick my princess at 4:30p.m go home gtive my family some time and at night when everyone is asleep i will do some mcq's or dvds So this is my thousand dollar plan
As for my time table, Iwill be starting from tommorrow i.e. 15th March 07 and aim for August07
My books:
Kaplan books & cds for every thing + Goljan for patho + FirstAid + Q bank
Inshallah hope for the best andyes i can do it and may god raise my spirits so i can cope with every thing as i planned Amen

Hi Penzy,
I am also trying to give my exam since 2005.I wasn't able to study due to my work and husband(no kids yet).
I am also seriously planning to give in July or august.I live in UK but we can make same timetable. I workfull time in Paediatrics in UK,so i will manage only 4-5 hrs a day(somedays 6-7hrs.). I am quite seroius to give this time as the hospital i am working has light work, so i should manage to study even while in Hospital.
If that suits u, let me know.

hi i m back i have finished my ECG's from Guyton, Ganong & Dale.Dubin  i couldnt write bcause my PC was out of order. At first it was very difficult for me to cope with my schedule as I planned it I was unable to concentrate with my studies but now I m all set. Tommorrow is saturday my hubby and my princess r going to b home so m I and we have to go to a party at night I m planning to complete Cardio anatomy in coming two days inshallah I hope all goes well as i planned

i m back today is monday i did anatomy of the heart and pericardium during my holidays that is saturday and sunday along with socializing I think that i m getting used to this step stuff Today i m going to do cardio dynamics in physiology inshallah

i m doing system wise study i think in this way i can memorize things well and r exam is also like this I m using Kaplan notes for every subject + Goljan for pathology + Kaplan q bank + First aid
now i m doing physio from kaplan + Guyton +ganong the last 2 books r just for an overview
bth what books r u using and what is ur time table

Hi penzy,
Hope u r doing well.
I started with microbiology, have finished listening to 8 chapters in DVD. I don't know how much does my smalll brain retain.
I am listening to kaplan, reading kaplan book, HY series for anat/histo/embryo/Neuro.
I will subscribe to usmleworld once I am in track of studying regularly.I want to give this exam by mid-july.
I haven't thought about studying system-wise,may be good. I thought i will just finish micro and may be join u or any other study group here as i badly need somebody to motivate me and help me finish as per timetable.
Hope to hear from u soon, If u have good timetable let me know, we can try and finish together.

hi today is 29th March and yet i have not accomplished my goal yes its 13 days now since i have started doing CVS system but i m only done with its physio, anatomy part thats it i did the kaplan dvds for this portion and came up with the conclusion that i dont have the basic cocepts now today i m going through it again oh God bless my soul. well but i know one thing that i can do it yes

Hey Penzy i havent given Step 1 yet so cant tell u a lot abt it. Though I did Study for FCPS but cudnt give it cos i had to come to US. So sorry no help there buddy Best of Luck to in ur prep.

There is NO FCPS EXEMPTION EVEN AN MRCP WUD HAVE TO GET AN ECFMG CERTIFICATION though i believe the process might be different but essentially the Same.

hi after a long time i m back actually i was too busy with my kid couldnt study infact nothing at aaall my little princes was not well she was having fever since a week but today thanks God she is alright so inshallah from tomorrow i will be back to studies now i think i will rest and from tomorrow morning i will start bye
