which cancer is common..(adeno/squamous/transitional) ? 95% are adenoCA developing in acini of prostatic ducts

which part of prostate is commonly affected in cancer ? 70% in peripheral zone

PSA is investigation of choice ,but from where does it come ?Which cells secrete it and what is its function? PSA is a single chain glycoprotein produced in prostatic duct epithelium, secreted into prostatic duct and then concentrated in seminal plasma, PSA is used for follow up the disease

To look for metastases ,what investiagtion is done ? PSA, biopsy, bone scan, abdominal scan :?:

If during surgery( radical prostatectomy or TURP) if obturator nerve is severed, then what function is impaired ? Weakness of hip adduction and rotation, hypoesthesia over upp inner thigh

PSA is secreted by both benign and malignant epithelial cells. It helps to liquify the semen.Normal value is 0-4 ng/dl .

if obturator nerve is severed..then pt will have loss of sensations on medial aspect of thigh.

Second investigation of choice to look for bone mets is bone scan
