Congrats to all who matched!
Power and GL to all who will fight through scramble.
Thanks to all who posted in the forum. I preferred to keep my own uncertainty and anxiety by myself, but I would have felt more lonely without the forum.

Now I want to share my experience.
Status: graduation >10 yrs, no USCE, need visa, have done research.
Applied in 11/07, had cleared s1/s2/cs before applying.
Applied to 28 programs, got 3 ivs. quit my job to prepare for iv. Studied the web sites and publications of the people from the programs. Analyzed my strength and weakness. In one iv, the gut feeling tells me that they are interested in me and I liked them most among the 3. I am pretty sure I matched to my #1.

Thanks again to all, especilly those devoted lot of time posting and answering Qs.

In which specialty?

psych only, univ./-affiliated programs

Did you asked the program who will be interviewing you so you could research about your interviewers?

No, I did not. Two of the programs sent me the interview schedule w/ names of interviewer many days in advance. For one program I did random check. Since I had only 3 ivs, it's easier to be well prepared.

Congratulations! Good luck on the new phase!

Thanks, what do you mean by random check?

Can you share the names of the programs?

i think he means he researched most of the faculty on the hospital program list or atleast about the dean, PD, associate PD so on

Thank you, Arlete.
dev, you are right.
silenced, md, I checked about the faculty listed on the home page and of course, I focused on areas I understand. Actually, iv questions are more or less like those published by digitaldoc, ie, the tell-me-about-yourself, why-do-you-want-to-work-here kind of Qs. But it is important to know the program so you know why you want to work there and what your future perspectives will be. One difficult Q was like this: you have no USCE, clinical work in US hospitals are very different from other countries, how do you think you can manage it?

Sorry, I fear that posting the 3 programs here will let me lose my anonymity. For programs strong in research, it is important to stress that you are highly interested in research and have an idea what kind of project you would like to participate.
