I wish you good luck doc. You can kill this beast, you have all the skills to do so. Just don't lose your mind and stay calm and everything is gonna be ok. I am sure you can be confident that you did all that you could to best prepare for this test so your biggest task is done, now you just need a bit of good luck and then.... a nice holiday! Thanks for all the infoes you shared: they have been very helpful.

I did the first 2 blocks in USMLE CD ( first time ) and scored
block 1 --------39 -------85 %
block 2 -------36 -------78 %
Tomorow I will do block 3 and check for some explanations

Dear doc-clotaire..I just wish u dont get bothered by ur back pain during the exam. You weill know everything..the exam is gonna be a joke for u believe me u will say its so easy man!
those tricky UW quest..they dont have those kind of quest in exam..they have only LITTLE tricky ones that we feel we need a 2nd thought and GET it right..but only due to RUSH we feel less confident about those answers. no quest will be like those thaat we keep pondering upon for many minutes and still dont get the answer.
I like ur decision of reading UW notes and FA in last day. I wish u a happy journey to the exam city and a very good sleep the night before exam and a very good and satisfying exam experience!!
some more tips..do take some glucose drinks for INSTANT energy especially for last 2-3 blocks.
take smaller breaks in beginning and bigger ones in end.
take care of ur back by proper posture from the beginning..and u may be allowed to use a cushion to support ur back so do take it along with u to exam centre..incse they dont u may leave it out but if they do u might be more comfortable.
do take some mouth disolving instant pain relief tabs incase u get a severe back pain and u need immidiate relief.

Guys , I am done with CK
The only thing I can say is may be there is a different sets of exam outhere , some are easier than others . I guess I am not a lucky guy , because mine was a HELL OF EXAM .
I mean , I am not kidding guys . I think even with the books opened , I would still could not answer those terribles questions.
Now , don ' t get me wrong . I think I was pretty prepared for CK . More than 6 months of preparation . I did Kaplan notes 3 times , kaplan Q-Book , Q-Bank , UW almost 3 times and was very active in forum discussion So I was litterally ready to KILL THE BEAST but it seems like it 's gonna be the other way around .
In order of frequency
IM -----------was the bone and meat of the exam , a lot of Resp , Cardio ( got 5 EKG ) the rest was equally tested .
Psych -------- I don ' t know if those guys want us to be all SHRINK but it was the second most tested in my exam . Questions was like for PSYCH BOARDS , very very very long cases , very complex . You can be stucked with a case of schizophrenia having caracteristic of schizoid , schizotypical all mixede togerther . All case was pretty confusing .
Surgery ------- My nightmare , a lot of polytrauma cases but since I though that surgery isn't generally heavily tested , I did not put all my egg in that basket but I should because there were a lot of question from it
OB-GYN ------- Third trimester bleeding all over the place , pelvic mass , endometriosis ect... This one was ok
PED ----------- I was so shocked to see so little question from PED , It supposed to be the most tested after IM but NO NO .... precocious puberty ,child abuse , orthopedic ect.... no normal child development for me
Some questions are very very long ( even 20 lines ) some are short ( 3-5 lines ) . They were pretty complex and VAGUE .Sometimes , you read the question , you know the diagnosis and feel confident about it and then when it 's time to pick your best choice , what you are looking for is JUT NOT THERE or if it is it a pain in the butt finding it because they CAMOUFLAGE it .
I am so disapointed now because I did my best to have a decent score but now I am not even sure if I am gonna pass which is my whole preoccupation .
Anyway I am glad that God give me the strengh to finish it even with my back pain . I had to take a bunch of pain killers after block 4 because the pain could not let me focus . I don' t mean to terrify future test taker , that 's why I put my experience here instead of appropriate page .

I am sorry to know that the exam was tough for you but take heart you will still come out with flying colors.There is one thread in the forum similar to your experience but the person scored really high.I'll send you the link if possible.....Good luck for the score.Just forget about the exam and leave it in God's hands.

u will do just fine but ur experience scared me.
im sure u will do fine. it happens with many people that they do well in exam but because they had to concentrate alot so they get a feeling it was hard and in teh end they get a really good score.
ive a few qs..
were the ecg's simple? from where did u prepare fr ecg/
were there any qs fr vent settings n wt to read fr that?
were there lot of qs on ABG's.
i planned to read FA n UW fr teh last 10 days/ is it enough.
once again best of luck. and i will be thankful if u could answer me.

do u think reading from somewhere else helps in psych? like NMS or wt do u suggest will be helpful?my exam is on 30 june.

Don't worry clotaire!!! I am really worried that you got an exam like this but you know what- Tough exams are really tough for all---So there is no reason why you can't get more than 95. You have put all the hard work possible and definitely you will be rewarded for that!

This is what you had told me when i wrote a terrible experience similar to yours 2 months back,and the same msg I have to convey you doc clotaire..This is a true,but a bitter exam experience that u had shared with us,something that everybody shld know,before giving CK, that this exam is not a childs play...

I must think all of you for your help guys . That 's so unbelievable to find people who don ' t even know your real name being so supportive even more than some family and friends near by one . This forum is a real God 's gift for all USMLE takers . Thanks for the thread Jesussaves : it really helps doc-08 ---- To tell you the truth , some EKG questions could be answered without knowing how to interpret them . I don ' t think you have to go to some EKG books for that , just stick to the one in Kaplan IM books and you will be fine . I had only one question from vent setting but I was so weird that I just click it and move on but I think Ashur from Kaplan Highlight explained them pretty good Only one mixed disorder in ABGs and I did read FA 2 times at the last 10 days .I also read Crush and Secret before but I like FA more , go for it if you want . For Psych , Man , I really don ' t know what to answer you because It was one of my strongest area and I still don ' t know how I did in it . May be , after having my score , I will be in a better position to give you advice about if you want I could share some advice that I got from my study friend Aashi for the last day who helped me BIG TIME that day . here we go..... Do know the interval time for each disorder ( shizophrenia , shizophreniform , adjustment , PTSD , Acute stress disorder , Major depression , Dysthymia , Cyclothymia ect..............) because they will try to confuse you in thoses tricky questions Sprint ----- I agree with you about : Tough exams are really tough for all . I hope they take that in consideration when scoring my exam . Good luck in your exam . I hope you don ' t get an crazy exam like mine Aashi ------ Your reverse psychology had so much impact in me that I almost cried when I read my own statement . Wao , that 's was so clever and so creative from you . I hope that your upbeat and post -exam feeling will apply in my case too ( not as high as your 95 but just hoping to pass with a decent score ) . Thanks for all your advice .
