well the mcc in alcoholics is strep pn. but klebseilla has a propensity to cause pneumonia in a person who is an alcoholic...i hope i was able to put the point across...lemme try again. if a person has pneumonia...mcc is strep pn...if a person is alcoholic and has pneumonia the mcc is strep pn...but if a person has klebseilla pn then there is a high chance that the person is alcoholic... hope this helped.

i don't think MLE is gonna test on MCC.. They r gonna give clues in the stem to help us figure out the bacteria.. I hv never heard of a Q in this test which says.. "Name the most common cause of....." But i can be wrong.. plz comment.

MCC of osteomyelitis in any patient: S. aureus. MCC of pneumonia in any patient: S. pneumoniae. If you watch the DVDs, you'll see Dr. Conrad Fischer stating that clearly. If USMLE people want you to answer another bug, they will have to say "currant jelly sputum" or osteomyelitis in sickle cell disease patient refractory to anti-Staph antibiotic.

Glad to help. First Aid says it too, by coincidence, I read it today. Good luck in your test!

I have three kids, so my study goes very sloooooooow and I want to have a good score, since my step 1 score is 207/84. Next week I am going to try NBME, if I do good, maybe I will give it before, let's see. I am praying for you.
