Ok, I'm a us IMG, work as nurse/medical assistant/bilingual interpreter to help me pay off credit cards, car, rent...kaplan course. Did step 1 video x 3 months, did q-bank/book and first aid while working 4 days/week I would go to Kaplan from 5pm to 9pm...very tired. On my day off and sats & sundays I'd study as many hours as I could put in. I had saved 4 weeks of time /vacation wich I used to study. Took step 1 jan 26, today oasis update...my hands trembling hit the next button and got the eligibility period...so I failed. Probably get the score early next week. What to do next? That's the question, more like what strategy to use next. I need to work, maybe go part time to 3 days if they let me,and I doubt I'll get another 4 weeks off to cram for the 2nd attempt. I work at a Ped. GI specialty office, fortunately I have learned so much there it's incredible and also I know I'll get great LOR from the DOC's there, but I feel BURNT OUT! I want to get back on track but I'd like some feedback from IMG's with similar experience or situation, I'm in my 30"s and a 1998 Med GRAD.

P.S. I know there are a lot of us in worse conditions, but nothing's worse than the feeling of failure...

they said your score was reported? cuz if its not reported and u try to apply, it may be a false alarm. Wishing u lots of strength either way, dont give up, things will get better

with oasis update , is it possible false negative?
or am I just rationalizing/denial?

Well if score is updated, like it says that score reported Feb18, and u reapply for Step1 and red screen saying 'according to our data u have already passed this exam' doesnt appear, then I doubt u passed it. but do hang in there for the actual result in mail

Hi, did you read other books before you went for Kaplan review? If you didn't, I think three months in Kaplan is not enough, you need to give it more time for huge material to be stored in your memory. My suggestion would be to read through it again, you will see that with each reading you learn more things and remember better. Wish you good luck, and please don't give up.

hi dont give up. wait for the results by post?? so how did ur exam go?? how did u feel after the exam?? i took my exam on 28th and still waiting for update.

Hi, my situation is similar, in fact i don't need pay debts, but have a family , working full time, studying ~40 hours weekly. I fail my step 1 last fall, but I am going to take it again in April. I am using Kaplan's books mostly... But what I want to say is - do not give-up, and if you really fail, do not wait too long. take it as soon as possible....
