Hi guys, I have officially gotten crazy now as my 1st time ever taking any form of the USMLE's is 3 weeks away on the 30th, I'm stressed. Please give me an outline/tips for the last 3 weeks before the test. I plan to begin FA next week. I have done 2 total reads since beginning to study September 2006, Goljen 3 times, Q-Bank, Kaplan beh. sc./micro/genetics/pharm. I feel as if I can't remember all. I am doing questions in q-book and questions from pre-test series. Help going nuts!!!!! I haven't taken NBME since November and did horrible, but will take it on Wednesday..........the NBME 3 and nervous about that because I didn't fair well on the 1 & 2 in Oct/Nov

You have to make an effort to have control of everything !!! I feel the last 2 mo are very very imp and here you can make a difference in your future score. Dont think, just read and connect things together ! I would say exercising is a big time help, but everyone is different, so do whatever relaxes you, atleast take a walk every day. Good luck and be positive, is the only way to succeed !

I don't want to keep silent reading your note. You know..,I have told you last time that we are in the same boat.In fact mine is earlier by one day. However I have decided to keep this date with out further change as my second NBME encouraged me to do so...but not the best still.I have convinced my self that..time wise ..it must be like.."all or none " ...once I reach a certain point ..there is no going to be much difference...if not the opposite. But there must be also a certain minimum....or say a threshold to boost a moral vs waiting. At this point taking the test which is beleived to be an indicator is important..This fact is well known to you,,NBME.I hope you are also not tempted by those questions which friends were posting!!! If you have done that you have broken your thermometer!!! This is also a reminder to other friends too who use these questions as a study guide !!! Totally wrong. It is good that these questions are labeled as NBME on this forum so that those test takers only in their fianl few days or not requiring an evaluatioin of performance play with them. So..my friend tee40 !! I am really sharing your pain ...but don't stress your self beyond a limit. It will be counter productive...We did not reach this satge with out an average intelegence and will defnitely do this exam...cheer up ....take your NBME according to your schedule and decide. You will do it...!!

Since you guys are just three weeks apart, my question is that how many reads of Kaplan are sufficient? For me the first reading was like getting the feel of the subject and then second is more organized and making sense. This time I am doing mcqs at the end of Kaplan notes and also from q bank. Though my exam is hopefully in July (as I am still doing the registration thing) what would you suggest for me in the last two months of my preparation? Should I read Kaplan again the third time? My second read will finish just about two months before my exam date. My idea is to do Kaplan Medessentials + FA for conceptual subjects like physio and bio. Certainly patho from Goljan one more time and micro pharma from Kaplan notes. High yield also seems tempting to memorize for GA, NA, Embryo and Histo in those last months. I also plan to do UW and herd of other mcq material that I haave including Lazo CD, Kaplan simulated CD, Q Book. I am very much confused as how to organize my last read. Can you comment ? Note: I am working full time now and last two months I will have full time available.

It will be good if you put this question in the general support column so that every body will have the chance to see.Other wise I can give you only limited advice as I have not yet taken my test,I will put details of my preparation after I take the test and subsequently result too.Meanwhile ,I feel that you are well organized.I have not used Medessentials but Kaplan notes and Kaplan Q bank,Again It will be good if you put this Question in the general support forum column.
