Hi all, Does any one know which course do we need to attend and get certified before we begin residency. There are a quiet a few of them.... CPR/BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS Instructor Course with Update CPR/BLS Program Instructor course I just wanted to know...and kill the time and tension builing in my mind about match

..if your aiming for residency in the United States...then u don't need either BLS or ACLS before starting, they will be given to you as a part of your initial orientation and paid for by your institution (which is a good deal seeing as ACLS is around $400)...(if your aiming for residency in Canada..you have to have done your BCLS (or CPR) Health Care Provider Course and following that, your ACLS before starting your residency on July 1st).

i hhad paid 130 fr AHA approved ACLS course, so i believe the costs vary according to various places. if u wanna do it anyways ....u can try to search a bit for the ones which dont take $400...dats expensive!!

Most residencies offer ACLS/BCLS in the orientation program. Hold off until you know where you are working and then contact the coordinator and ask. Even if my residents do ACLS overseas, the hospital requires that it be completed in the USA. Think about that before you spend money on something that won't count or you could do free.

Dear bbb, Does that mean I can take the Course anywhere in US ,Not just at the Program offered. Does all the courses offered are same standards or does is it mandatory to take only at the Program. Please reply

Reliable - that is another program dependent answer. The curriculum is from the American Heart Association - but a program may ask that you take it with them.
