in Kaplan notes i found something about Clofibrate, that it is used in treatment of central DI as a drug that helps release of ADH, but i could not find any other sorce that would confirm or mention use of this drug other than lowering cholesterol level.
please help me to find confirmation and if possible exploration of this fact.
thank yousmiling face

..At least 3 groups of nonhormonal drugs are useful in reducing polyuria: various diuretics, primarily thiazides; ADH-releasing drugs, such as chlorpropamide, carbamazepine, and clofibrate; and prostaglandin inhibitors, which are modestly effective. These drugs have been particularly useful in partial CDI and do not cause the adverse effects of exogenous ADH.

Thanks alot for your respond.
i did read it about CDI, but i couldn't find this fac from another side - from the drug. how does it work on hypophysis, if it works in liver (VLDL, LDL catabolism). i was trying to find it in Clofibrate info, but other then "decreasing cholesterol/TG level" i couldn't find anythingshaking head

Plz read the Discussion in the given links i have copy pasted the reasons over here u can further read thru the links

1. The evidence supports the possibility that clofibrate exerts an antidiuretic action by increasing the release of ADH from the neurohypophysis.

2. The relationship between clofibrate dose and antidiuretic effect was similar to that found in studies with other nonhormonal “vasopressin-like” agents’ (chlorpropamide and earbamazepine) which also increase the ADH release from the neurohypophysis.

The Only 2 links that i found were
1. http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fc...
2. http://jcp.sagepub.com/content/vol14/issue5/[/left]
