hi guys, i waited to write my exam experience until i get my score report. and finally the day has come.i got my score yesterday.its 94.. this forum was the only boost to me before my exam. i used to browse thro' the exam experiences so many times!! thanks for everyone. i gave my exam on feb 8th.. i studied for 1.5 months, i had a strong instinct to postpone but somehow i managed to give it. THE EXAM- my step 1 experience was so horrible comparing to this. but in step 2 i cud understand q, the answers were so vague.. the q were very long, i was so irritated to read and finally thought wen wud i get out of that block. 35 q were longest and 15 were long..this was the situation in all the blocks. i found the 1st block easy, 2nd toughest and others were ok.. psychiatry was difficult, otherwise medicine, sur and og were better. paed was ok.. PREPARATION- i used only kaplan materials for all sub and usmleworld.did kaplan q book too.. but cudnt finish it.. the essence is perseverance... BE CONFIDENT, BELEIVE IN URSELF... these are the things which will help u.. try to give 2 or 3 revision., do the uw completely. its very similar to the exam. i got 5 q directly from that. do the kaplan q book. read the notes of uw u took before the exam. just be thorough with the concepts, apply ur knowledge. u can easily get through wat i did.. kaplan-read a total of 2 times kaplan q book- did all sub, med cudnt do 3 papers.. uw -62% [ finished all the qs] didnt do nbme or any simulated test.. my score-94/234 i got exactly the same score in step 1! :nod

Hey Dr.Vetri....CONGRATULATIONS.....you're done with such an impressive score!!!!!!I am doing exactly same prep as you did(kaplan lectures+notes then Q-book and then will subscribe UW Q-bank)..I have a question for you...I will take my exam in the end of june...Right now did about 25%of IM from lectures...Please tell me how many total questions are there in UW Q-bank?and which subjects are heavily tested and which are not?Did you have time management prob on ur exam?can you please describe topics that are heavily tested for example from PED,PSYCHIATRY,STATISTICS,SURGERY?thank you in advance and good luck for future and match.

congratulations you said,m35 q were longest and 15 were long..this was the situation in all the blocks i did not understand. is it that there were 35 longest que in total of all 8 blocks or 35 longest in each block. cos 35 + 15 makes 50 and there are only 46 ques in total in each block. please guide, cos exam in 20 days. thanks.

hi , solitarius, medicine is the heavily tested sub and statistics not as step 1 but was easy.. regarding other sub they were equally distributed,i felt paed was tough, i cud only remember my 1st q in 1st block, congenital anomaly, i had no idea wat it is.. i had six q with ECG.. metabolic disorders.. i cudnt remember more than that.. anothergoljanfan, iam sorry i wrote it.. all the blocks hav 46 qs, psychiatry had the most long qs than other sub.. i will be happy to answer any qs.. thank u

i hav no great idea abt other books as i didnt study those but iam so much sure that if u read just kaplan, only kaplan thoroughly .. u can definitely do well in the exam.. with uw! referring any books like harrison or cmdt is each one's preference. if u hav time just look at some relevant points in step 1 kaplan path, pharm, micro.. they were greatly helpful. i had many q from side effects of drugs..
