Hello there, I am totally new to USMLE preparation. Planning to take Step 1 in 4 months time. Graduated in 1999. Did PG in General Surgery for 3 years. Working in Surgery since then. Can anyone guide me where to start and what to read? I am working full time now. But can make upto solid 3 to 4 hours per day. Heard about Kaplan lecture notes, Q book, Courses etc., But I am really confused. Please help me out. Cheers.

Just read the exam experience of 99'ers. I will give you a good understanding of what to read. some must reads / listen are, Dr. Goljan's pathology audio lectures. the best one out there for Pathology, Biochem - Kaplan Physio - Kaplan / BRS Neuro - high yield. FA aid for step 1 is must. Do a lot of questions. If you can do both USMLE WORLD and QBANK questions, if you have time to do only one, i would recommend you to do UW questions. Hope this would help you. Good luck on your preparation

to what other said (which i agree on) i would add one more thing: plan for longer preparation, given, that you have only 3-4 hrs to study 4 months is seems to be too short you may be a genius, but even you will need time to go through 7 books (at least) and grasp all the little details they are going to test good luck

Hello There, Thanks a lot to everyone for your suggestions and guidance. I have started my preparation with Physiology from Kaplan lecture notes which I manage to get from one of my friend who no longer prepares. Back to basics again after so many years. Oneway, it's nice to read. Thanks for the inspiration and wishes.
