Hi, I have ranked a program which has almost all AMGs very highly in my ROL as the training there is excellent and the program is awesome...What are the potential difficulties I as an FMG will have to face during training if I match into this program. Help guys with whatever you think would be potential problems....would like to be prepared...bbb your answer will be really appreciated as I think you would have seen things happening...

I could go into details, but it will all come down to two scenerios.

1. Residents will accept you and you will accept the residents and the life style and get along great. Have a great residency. Love it.

2. You won't be accepted, you won't like the program, you will always feel like an outsider and hate every minute of it.

Since I don't know you, where you are from, what specialty - I can't really go into specifics. But, mon ami - meinen freunden - most of it will be up to you.

Best of luck!

Thanks a ton bbb...Here is the scenario- I have spent a couple of months with the program and I think I would fit with in with a lil effort on my part. I had great fun with some of the residents...If I do match here it will only be becoz the program thinks I would fit in. I am good with social skills and communication and can easily adapt to western lifestyle and have no cultural hang-ups. My concern is that I am not really good with US politics and local happenings and since I am in a surgical field would find it lil hard to make casual conversation with the attendings during surgeries.....rolling eyes BTW am Indian...do you have anything more to add?
Where are the gurus??? Praying??grin
Have fun in Mexico...smiling face

I feel its going to be the same everywhere in the world.

I belive 99.9 % of people are nice.

My formula is work hard,be honest, watch what one says, be nice regrdless of others, analyse what we are saying or doing wrong and change whatever we have to.

Even if people dont accept you first they will appreciate you later on for what you are.

Have of any battle is attitude and if they already know you - don't sweat it!! You should be fine. Just don't discuss the politics, subscribe to a local newspaper, you have most of it handled. In my program, we just have docs. AMGs and IMGs hang out together, clubs, dances, basketball, soccer, parties. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

I plan on having fun in Mexico. "Einen gross Margarita, por favor" - If I speak bad enough German, maybe my English will seem better!!
