Through this journal to keep track of my step one preparation, meet people who are aiming to take step one in the same time as I am (around May 07) and find encouragement for my uphill task. I have many limitations- I am an old grad (1996), work full time, tried starting several times in the past but got side tracked by circumstances. I have a 3 year old daughter and a one month old son who are quite demanding of my time though my wife cares for them most of the time. My strengths are these- I have all the materials I need to ace step one (atleast I think I do!) and formulated a crazy schedule that will help me gain 5 hours of study time. I come back from work at 4.30pm, and after spending some time with the kids, sleep from 6.30pm to 9pm, study from 9pm to 2am and then sleep from 2am to 6am. I have decided to do this every day except wednesday. I am studying Pharmacology now. Using both Kaplan Pharmacology text and also Katzung and Trevor for better understanding of some topics.

Hello Simon, A warm welcome to you in this great forum, you will find here many friends in the similar situation as you are. On the end the limitations are our inspirations, and please don't despair if it will take longer to prepare, important is to get there. Just be consistent, set your mind. Surely it would be harder for you as I noticed your schedule, but you can do it, all you need it a strong will ! Wish you good luck!

Thank you GoodGirl for your kind words of encouragement. All the best for your preparation. I am reading pharmacology in Kaplan, just finished CVS yesterday. Will start CNS pharmacology today. I started with Katzung as well but felt I wasnt getting much out of it hence decided to stick with Kaplan.

I had to take a break because of unforeseen circumstances, but am back again. My family circrumstances have changed such that I meet my kids only on weekends. I work full time, and try to study in the evenings on the weekdays except Friday. Restarted with Pharmacology. Going slow right now, hopefully will pick up pace.
