One day the study and productivity is excellent and the following day it is quite otherwise. Does this happen only with me?

How does one passify one's self and continue on course despite that feeling?

Can anyone tell me how many hours of study in a day recommended for someone starting from scratch to prepare from USMLE step 1?

Can some kind fellow doctors preparing for the same exam please write a few lines as to what they are going through...........would be a great help.

Thanks in advance
Happy Studying!

Hi,
Everyone the same. Keep it up. Read in study partner , journal forum, a lot of supporting you can get from there. Here is more like study support acadamically. If need social, emotional, motivation, friends, family wise support , vist the two I mentoioned or have your own topics for that 2 forum, like journal in daily.
Do check my journal , friends in my journal & their posts, links too.

It happens with everyone. It is important to use external support - family, friends, forums; to remain motivated.
All the best.

I would get that way and the very thought of looking at something else is a turnoff, so I do something different. I try to go to the gym 2 times weekly and sometimes instead of studying my note cards while on the machine, I actually talk with other people working out or look at what is on the TV. I also sometimes just read one of my favorite magazines that I haven't been reading lately and do a crossword puzzle and within a few days I am ready to get back to it (usually because of guilt&anxiety also) and I do.shaking head

It is just a slump, as I only have 4 weeks to go and I know I need to focus. So, it will be interesting to find out what the others do to survive especially the 95'ers and above.

So it isn't just me going through this!

I know this feeling all too well. It is like being on a rollercoaster. Some days high, some days low. And the low is usually LOW. So I take that as a sign to take a break.
