yea......................Once you meet amg'S AND DO AN OBSERVERSHIP YOU WILL REALISE HOW MUCH VAST DIFFERENCE THERE IS B/W THEM AND US IMG'S. Sorry for the capitals....caps lock on ...anyway.....what i meant was not in knowledge or experience per se but in terms of handling of situations and guidelines in treatment assuming you have a working knowledge in a developing country..........where guidelines are shunted out for makeing practical decisions.........In general Its what u say and how u say it tht counts in most situations rather than wheter you r true at heart or did the right or apt thing.............so guess thats why AMG's are preffered in most cases( make no mistake AMG'S are great and competent people, what I wanted to say was that they have a special finese in handling situations as they are born and brought up here, frankly I love all the AMG's I have met )..............just by observation..maybe I am wrong........rolling eyes

All the bestnod

I feel getting into ENT is very tough.....for an IMG esp needing a visa.

thank you for taking the trouble on posting that lengthy reply!
i guess all things worth achieving are tough so i m gonna go ahead and give it my best shot. good luck to you as well! smiling face

ent is a strict AMGs domain....but time to time IMGs have broken the jinx. But this is only if u have a bunch of publications in indexed journals, xcellent LORs from ENT greats who are known world over, some research under your belt & previous residency/ ent experience from your home country. Needing a visa is a big disadvantage as there are hundreds of competent AMGs who are battling for a ent seat. Its pretty unusual to have an ENT vacancy in the scramble. That pretty much sums it up how difficult the speciality is to get into.

My friend who did a ENT pg from Aiims did not make it ....not one IV call..........He/She had a bunch of publictions and recco's and good scores.........got a bunch of surgery IV''s........even offered prematch............

check out http://www.nrmp.org/matchoutcomes.pdf

Goes to show how competitive ENT is..........My only suggestion......... apply for surgery also.

oh dear,
thank you fox. it hurts to hear how hard it is but i guess i'm better of knowing anyway.

my heart goes out to your friend! apply for surg to? so another way is to do a prelim yr in surg and then apply for ent? are the chances for getting into ent any better that way?
what are your thoughts?

Hi , Iam an IMG . Did ENT 3 yrs post Grad from India. Worked with a renwoned ENT surgeon in UK for 1 yr. Have done a research thesis and have 3 publications in south asian(indexed jornals).
what should i do to explore the feeble chance i have in ENT..

Pray hard n try your best at the match .
US lors, US ENT research and/or no visa needed status MAY increase your chances . Best of Luck

Whiterrabbit made a great point... Teaching is almost nonexistant in Indian Medical Colleges. And I am from a 150 year old Premier Institution in a big metro.
