i have been offered a leab position and my DS 2019 should be here soon.... should i hire an immigration lawyer to help with the visa paperwork?? is it safe to do it myself, i dont want to mess anything up after reacvhing this far! anyone knows a good immigration lawyer in mumbai????

Don't panic! The hospital/research instituition that hired you will help filing the paperwork, too. I did it by myself just like others. It is very straight forward. You will be fine. Well, I have to mentioned that I have applied from from Europe, but I don't think it makes a big difference. The J-1 papers are usually not that complicated compared to other type of visas. Just contact with the one who signed your DS-2019 for further assistance. No need for Lawyer. Just have the From signed, have the clinical letter( that you don't have close contact with physical examination and patient Tx), your passport copy, financial documents sent with courier mail and make sure they recieve yoru package.
