platinum, have a question for you- if one has already got medical education verified thru cvs online of ecfmg and if one were to apply for fcvs, does fsmb still contact medical school or wld they check with ecfmg alone? i was looking at the "benefits of fcvs" on the fsmb website and i understand that in future every time we renew a license ourmedical education is verified and so having fcvs do this once and for all is good.( my seniors also suggested that this is a wise move) if you have already applied for fcvs, can you walk me thru the process? thanks

FCVS costs a lot of money and time. They can take up to 12 weeks to finish processing your documents. It costs almost $400, plus every document not in English MUST be translated by FCVS (they do not accept translations from anywhere else) and they charge you for the translation depending on how much they have to translate. I don´t think it is worth it for training license to begin residency, since it can take up to 12 weeks, and you may want to have your training license as soon as possible if you are applying for H1b visa. But it would definitely be worth it for State License after residency.
