Dear all,
Took my exam at houston last month--i thought the exam was going on smoothly until the last patient which I was hoping to be an easy one but as fate would have it,i had a CNS case and I could not finish on time-i just started to counsel her and the bell rang and I came out.
The rest of the cases were strictly o.k and i did the usual rituals-like knocking smiling shaking hand, draping and washing my hands.
All the other cases i completed a minute or two before time except the last one
I am really worried about it now-will that prove fatal?
I have completed my other steps with good scores and the misery of stumbling at the final block is worrying me no end.
I shall be grateful for an honest reply
Thank you

Dear Ariane
I have gone thro one of your earlier messages and you have mentioned that they consider only 10 out of the 12 cases-is it true and what is the source for the information?
Please let me know
Thanks

from your messege i can feel that you will pass.
after my exam i had the feeling that i will definitely fail, didn't finish 3-4 cases, had a lot of mistakes, even forgot to do some basic stuff, but thank god , i passed....
hope this will help.

Thanks Blueprints
Your message is encouraging -the thing which irks me about this exam is the lack of transparency-every one in the forum seems to think that they only score 10 cases out of 12 but it is not written in stone anywhere
the looong wait for the results is also painful
THanks once again

hi vaishnavi
the USMLE CD say the CS exam consist of 12 patient encounters of which a small number is not scored and is only added to pilot test new cases or for research purposes. such cases are not counted towards your score...
FA says of the twelve patient encounters only 10 are scored...
I have not taken this exam yet so i may not be the voice to put your mind at rest... but it certainly seems like you passed...
lets us know WHEN you see red in oasis...
