Ill start: this is my favorite q! (although most can not beat it into the ground or even get the significance of it...) If A fib is unstable and acute then cardioversion is done (use TEE to check for clots) If A fib is stable you anticoagulate and and rate control with meds. A. flutter is treated the same way. Important A.fib qs are: 1) is it new onset or old onset? 2) is it stable or unstable? 3) is it permanent, persistent or paroxysmal A.fib.? 4)are there different variants to the A. fib? 5)we should beat Afib and A.flutter into the ground comments welcome!
