Hey all, i'm finally ready to give back to the forum that helped me so much. I am different from most ppl who contribute to this forum in to ways; 1) i took step 2ck before step1 2) i am not indian! I am more than willing to help anyone who's planning to go down the same road that i did

you're right, Nick_O_Teen, you're different. If you weren't you would have posted your exam experience without waiting to be begged for.

Sorry everyone i've been real busy.. i was on duty the last few days and didnt have time to check the posts.. so here goes: i started studying for step 2 a few weeks before i graduated from med school in hopes of pursuing my dream of being the best doctor ever and help ppl everywhere i had such hi ambitions.. heck the sky was the limit!! i studied from kaplan notes and added on to them all the things i found relevant from large heavy reference books as Cecil, Nelson peds, etc.. i chose step 2 first because it was more fun to study (more clinically based).. everyone told me that this was a mistake cause all the stats said that IMGs do better by taking step 1 first.. it took me 8 months to finish my first read which is WAY too much. but that was only because i was doing my internship then, and i took a lot of breaks inbetween. From my point of view it should take a sensible doc only 5 months max to finish a good first read. I strongly recommend the kaplan notes as the basic source for ur studies.. At the end, i realised that although it may seem as a small reference, EVERYWORD in those damn notes count!! ANYWORD can be the buzzword for solving a vignette! and that was also what doing UW qs confirmed! I also studied immunology (goljan rocks!) and microbiology (my own lecture notes) to cover most of the step 1 material that my come up on the CK. I also suggest a quick skim-thru FA Step One (micro and path mneumonix) to consolidate ur basic sciences base.I was very happy to find out that i was right! All the questions that i didnt answer on the actual test was due to lack of time, or being just too darn difficult case studies i didnt feel that i had any lack of knowledge in the basic sciences. thats all i have for today folks! waiting for ur replies before i continue my last few months preps and the actual exam experience! hasta luego!
