Dear friends,

I have been reallly encouraged by this forum. I decide to study for the step 1 exam.

I have seen people mentioned to use kaplan text books...for Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Immunology, Behavioral Science.

But I have seen two different types of Kaplan books.
1) the first type is called "2006 Kaplan USMLE Step 1 Review Kit" which include four volumes

2) the second type is called " KAPLAN Lecture Notes for USMLE Step 1" which include a variety of topics

Which one I should buy? Or should I buy both of them?

thanks grin

There is no need to buy both of them. Buy the lecture notes. the 4 volume review kit is absolutely weird compared to the lecture notes.

Also for pathology get the Goljan notes and audio lectures instead of kaplan. Pathology is the best there and it being the major bulk of the exam, u need to be very good at it.

good Luck

Hello!

"First Aid" Books published by Mc Graw Hill are also good. First Aid for the USMLE step 1, and First Aid Q&A for the USMLE step 1. How to use --

Pick a topic for the day, for example: Endocrine.

Try to answer the First Aid Q&A (for Endocrine), purely relying on your stock knowledge.
Do not check your answers yet.

Read the (Endocrine) chapter in First Aid for the USMLE step 1.

Now, do a post-test. Try to answer the First Aid Q&A (for Endocrine), with your stock knowledge and the new knowledge you gained from reading.

Check your answers for both the first try & second try. If your correct answers increase,
then this method works for you!

Lastly, read the explanations for the questions that you were incorrect.
If you have time, you can read all the explanations for all the questions, just to make sure you have learned the concepts correctly.

* Depending on how fast you read, or review, this takes 5 to 7 weeks to cover all the material in the two books.

where to buy:
bookstores
Mc Graw Hill
www.half.com
amazon
