HI guys I need your help Iam having problems with my Temporary licence in Illinois , I need some credits for the Continuing Medical Education (CME) so anyone of you know about which journal or website its the most convenient terms of money,credits,time.

www.medscape.com is easier.

There is another website for CME, that used to give 7 credit free of charge for reading an article for first time users. www.emedicine.com

mty: I think there are several ways to get those credits, I'm really not very informed about it but for example you can get them through online courses (free or paid) such as those websites you wrote down, also assisting to courses/congresses/conferences in person, also doing academic activities in USA (maybe doing research also counts and teaching but I'm not sure).

maybe the easiest way to get them is using these online courses for free you said.

medscape subscription is free

but you have to find out which are the specific requirements of Illinois for your temp license, it varies from state to state.

Hi mty,

Is the AMA PRA category 1 credit requirement of 60 earned online sufficient to get the Illinois State temporary license ? I mean, is it equivalent to the required 150 CME credits for Illinois ?confused

Crab here is the requirements
3 years prior to application 50 hours – may consist of:

A minimum of 20 hours of Category 1

A maximum of 30 hours of Category 2


3-4 years prior to application 100 hours - may consist of:

A minimum of 40 hours of Category 1

A maximum of 60 hours of Category 2


4-5 years prior to application 150 hours - may consist of:

A minimum of 60 hours of Category 1

A maximum of 90 hours of Category 2


ALL CATEGORY 1 CME MUST INCLUDE CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION.

(Photocopies are acceptable.)

i'm assuming that by "years prior to application" u mean graduation year prior to application...

also if u could pls tell me how to find category 2 cme activities on medscape...again i'm assuming that by category 1 activities u mean AMA PRA category 1 activities.

Hi Crab you are right regarding years of graduation.
Regarding Category 2 I dont know exactly where you can find the credits.
