hi robin i did submit an application to extend my eligibility period. I paid but the new permit dint appear. Instead it said ECFMG will send you an email. I am wondering is it because of the weekend. it also said that i have a valid form 186 on file.( so probably means i dont have to mail hem anything).

I don't know, I did it and my permit appears immediately after I finished all steps.
Access your IWA and see if your permit is available to print or not.
Nothing to worry.
