hypokalemia may occur in renal tubular acidosis type 1 and 2.

exceptions
1.diarrhea
2.renal tubular acidosis
there is acidosis and hypokalemia in both conditions
(indicating that more is lost in the body fluids than is gained by a shift out of cell)
