A young woman with acute myeloblastic leukomia is treated with intensive chemotherapy and achieves remission of her symptoms. Because the prognosis for relapse is relatively high, a bone marrow transplant is undertaken in her first remission. WHich of the following cytokines administered with the bone marrow cells would have the beneficial result of stimulating lymphoid -cell development from the grafted stem cells?
A. IL - 1
B. IL - 2
C. IL - 3
D. IL - 6
E. IL - 7

  #2

IL-3 is stimulating myeloid line cells

  #3

E. IL - 7

  #4

Why is IL 7? remember the "HOT T-Bone StEAk"? I would think it is IL 3

  #5

IL3 for myeloid line
IL7 for lymphoid line
having myeloblastic condition IL3 seems to be more appropriate

  #6

IL-7 = lymphoid
IL-3 = myeloid

  #7

this is exactly what i saynod

  #8

Thanks nod

The Qn asks which would promote the lymphoid line. My choice is E- IL7

  #10

remember IL-7 for lymphocytes, as acylostoma said take a look at 7 n L
again IL-3 for myloid , take a look at 3 n m

  #11

so what do you think is the answer for this qn, tompat?

hi doc 179,
here the question is how to stimulate LYMPHOID lineage ok
the fact that this is a new bone marrow has nothing to do with previous malignacy of the myloid (or as may in other cases lymphoid)lineage.
all we have to ensure is that lymphoid cells be established properly as q ask us to do.
so my ans is IL-7
