Same thing happened to me, as I said before I was totally devastated.. The first two blocks were nasty hard, I mean my morale dropped to the floor... After the whole test was over there was nothing left out of me, I felt that doesnt matter how hard I tried the test was way above my level... Anyways, lets pray for a good outcome and hope for the best...

At this moment I feel that I am getting the hang of it, I am making my mind set that I wont be having a high score for this test.. And I decided that from now on I will stop worrying, and I will wait for results no matter what..
Just need to hang on for 4 more weeks and wait for mail to arrive...

Drhania, Mazinger,

I read your experiences and I fell the same, I took my Ck 10 days ago, I had a post traumatic stress disorder after my test, It was terrible, ambiguos, extremly long and subjective, The most important now pray for ussad

No offense to step 1 takers, but step 1 is kid's play compared to step 2 ck... Remember harder tests are easier to score high..

Hey drhania and mazinger,

Although i havent taken my exam yet, and God only knows when i will gather the courage to take it, but i can guarantee both of you that you are going to score high. There is no way you are going to score lower than your NBME. And for Mazinger you are among the very best, If you dont get a 99 than noone should (i have seen your post about nbme score)

...hania priya also ended up getting 90% and she had a similar experience as yours so plz dont cry you will get a great score INSHAALLAH!

Now for lesser mortals like us who dont even score well on NBMEs, PLz advice how can we better prepare ourselves?....Have you guys seen new kaplan qbank and its questions...do you think the length and difficulty level is similar? Did you guys ran out of time in any blocks? Were there any 3-4 liners at all.

reply whenever you get a chance, i know you must be very tired by this whole experience Goodluck!

Normal post-test feeling.

Most people with this feeling got very good scores, vice versa, those who were happy finally failed or got f! scores.

Do not worry.

Good luck.

Robin buddy long time no see, thanks for the support.. Sarika thanks for the compliments and support, I wish both of you good luck in your quest dont lose hpe..
One last thing I feel really bad of exposing my feelings after the test, because I may discourage many people in the forum who are just begining with their prep or are burning out.. My words may seem full of despair, but that's not my intention... Im just a little tense and I am trying to release my anxiety through the support of the good people who constantly visit this forum...

hi guys,
I haven't been on this forum for a long long time. I mean I haven't posted anything but do read all the posts from time to time to get encouraged and confidence. I took CK on 2/10. I have the exact feeling with you guys. I was crushed at the end of the day and don't have energy to go for CS now after such a big trauma. I got a fair score for step1 and strongly desired an descent one for CK, but now my best wish is just to pass it.

Actually I don't have many lengthy Qs. But the choices are so vague even for very short Qs. Sometime I even didn't know what it was talking about at all. Or I knew the diagnosis but I didn't know which one to choose for the management or its mechanism. It was just so hard. I didn't encounter all those weird dzs that have driven me crazy like all those metabolic and congenital dzs, but I couldn't make a confident decisions...I just simply couldn't do it since all the choices are so vague, confusing and just tricky. I had 3 ECGs in total, which were the only ones that I could make sure that I was correct. 2 biostatistics qs I was just blacked out since I didn't have time to finish reading. Lots of pediatrics for newborn sepsis, I wasn't sure its origins, from meningitis or necrotic intestinitis, or just dehydration.

Pls cross our fingers and may god bless us to pass it at least! It's painful to wait for my results.

to drhania and mazinger: don't worry, if you scored well in nbme and UW, high probability you scored well here. If you also did Kaplan QBank and scored well there, then your chances are even higher. I felt surreal when I came out of the exam room, like floating in space. It was tough exam, that's why I'm terribly irked whenever I see someone stating exam was easy. I got 99/258 and I thought exam was really hard. Either these people are geniuses and I'm waiting for them to post their scores of 99/280's or 99/290's, or they're just trying to hurt people by lulling them into a false sense of security. To those still preparing, my advise, study hard, 99 is doable but not a walk in the park.

wow, it's sounds horrible...i think the Qs will be longer than before since they cancel the TOFEL test, they must find a way to challenge the IMGs...sad
hope you will get a good score
Good luck!

hi guys

let me put your minds at rest. i took ck back in december and i got the results in january i failed 176, BUT when i did nbme 2 mnths before the exam i scored less than 500, i never did the uw and on the top of everything after the exam i felt very positive.

it is going to be the opposite for you guys that are complaining so much. oh i forgot when i did the exam i never run out of time, so as i said be positive, wait for test and then we can come back to the forum and discuss it again.
would be most helpful if u posted some of the qs so we can help eachother instead of scaring everybody off.

by the way i am retaking ck in march.
any feedbacks are welcomme.

thanks and good luck to all of you

Dear shakatori real test questions cannot be posted nor discussed, its against the rules of the nbme. I know what you mean about its not a positive thing to scare people off through our comments... BUT, this was our experience so far, so we just try to advice people that the test varies in the level of difficulty.. It could be easy as kaplan qbank or harder than UW itself.. The whole point is to future exam takers is to be ready for anything because anything could happen...
And one last thing, if someone got really scared from our posts I am sorry for my part that was not my intention at all. As I said before I am just trying to release some of my stress through the support of the people in this forum...
Cheers!

In the last couple or days, I still couldn't sleep well. the qs always came back to me during the middle of night, flashback of the PTSD! Now I know I did them wrong, but not the time during the exam. My big mistake during the exam was the time management. You have to learn how to let if go even if you don't know the anwer. It's impossible that you know everyting. It's normal you don't know this and that. I believe everyone prepared very well before getting into the test center, but the performance in the real exam could be largely affected by the capability of how well you deal with the anxiety. That's all I have learned from the exam.

  #17

to drhania: If they really added new pool of q's in October and November than those q's will not be scored. Experimental q's are new q's that they have to test first before knowing whether they are too hard, too easy or just right. Remember, they have to pass 90% of AMG's give or take a few. That's how they determine passing scores and difficulty level of exam in both step 1 and step 2 ck. IMG's performance of course are not considered in determining passing scores and difficulty level of exam.

I guess telling the truth & a true experience should be appreciated rather than saying such words as scaring. If ppl get scared then they shouldn't be taking the exam, cos if they arent prepared they will have an MI in the exam. As you said you had an easier exam, but thats not always the case, My friends who took exam in late december, were really shocked to get a very tough exam, including me.

the whole purpose is to help each other not what u think shakatori that we are scaring ppl. hhaaa, thats ridiculous!disapproval

drhania: you'll get a good score, your nbme score wasn't bad. Let us know your score when you know it.

To Vallia,

From the experience I have, if you only use Kaplan notes, Qbank and UW, you'll still miss lots of points. HOwever, as I said, you won't know everything that they'll ask you. Those are the best materials so far. But, be prepared if you see something you never see in those materials.

I just want to repeat once more that the most important thing during the exam is timing, timing and timing....Don't loose those questions that you knew already and try your best for those beyond your knowledge.

GL.

I don't mean to ask question from the exam, but can you tell me how many qs did you get from each topics, that is how many from IM, paed or OBG GYN/Surgery? Also did you get qs about management in details (specially for IM)? If you think this is inappropriate, please don't bother to reply. I was advised by one of my friends that they are asking a lot of pathophysiology type qs and pharmacology qs. Is that correct?

  #23

To USMLE_dmc,

I got around 70% IM, 10-15%Ped, 10%OB/GN, Psy 5%, just a few Surg, and only 5-6 Biostatistics. You know, it's just a rough estimate, but at least you can get some ideas.

Lots of pathophysiology, eg. mechanisms. only 5 questions about side effects of pharm. for IM, not very detailed management, eg. dosages, but all are very confusing.
