A female 35 yrs old comes in ER ,she was sweating profusely ,has severe hypoglycemia ,later goes into coma after few minutes .On lab investigations blood insulin level was found to be high .

How will you differentiate whether its due to insulin secreting tumors or due to insulin injection ?

Endogenous synthesis of insulin produces C peptide, the product of proinsulin cleavage, that is detected in serum.

Exogenous insulin has no C peptide. I think this was an important point in some big murder trial (Klaus von Bulow???)
