sorry I am not able to post the pedigree chart.hope you remember.In the family represented by the pedigree, affected persons have a disease characterized by mitochondrially inherited late-onset optic atrophy. Assuming that the family and personal medical history of the partner is unremarkable, the risk for optic atrophy to develop in the male child of IV-9 is closest to A) 0% B ) 25% C ) 50% D ) 75% E ) 100% The chart shows 4 generations, first generation woman has disease, second gen 2 boys, 2 girls all 4 with disease. third generation..one girl has 1 boy and one girl , both sick.The fourth generation ..the girl has 2 girls and 1 boy(IV-9) , all 3 sick. and they are asking about the kid of the boy

all affected females wil pass and affect their all children and in given scenario---girl has two girls and one son(IV-9)??---> its III gen affected female whose male child is to evaluate i guess so its 100%

oops sorry i misundertook IV son thot him to be evaluated...yes thn 0% if other is the case thn this male child IV-9 will be 100% affected but his kids will be 0% affected... thanks

A!!!! males do not transmit ANY mitochondrial disease, that comes 100% of the mother... and it can be expressed with different severity because of heteroplasmy (specific mutations seen in some mitochondrias of the cell, not in all of them) resulting in variation in severity and expression of the disease
