Hi gv5...well Finally I have decided to do like this because I got my step-1 results with poor scoresad204/84...so I thought to prepare well for ck for about 4 months and will take exam by the mid-july for sure.and my CS exam date is-24AUG..please tell me my schedule sounds good or what?cuz I am confused after my step-1 score.I have GC and LORs from my medical school handy, right now I am done almost with half of internal medicine from kaplan...please tell me-ck is tougher than step-1 or how you will GRADE ck with setp-1?I am also doing only kaplan...and later on after reading 2x will subscribe UW for 2 months..is it enough for uw in 2 months?and how about FA?Any advise from you will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Good luck for match.

1. mid july ck sounds good.Prepare well and try score high...do nbme also 1month before to have an idea abt where u stand.ck is tough as in my post do im well.dont know much abt fa but kaplan ,uw,nbme and maybe crush if u have the time. After u finish uw do a quick last revision of all ur notes uw,kaplan and take the exam.

2.cs 24 aug is fine u shld then i think gt results in nov dec....since u have gc u will still get lot of interviews with s1,s2 scores and results awaited status for cs.Apply by mid september to maximise ur chances..if u re looking at im try scoring high on step2 ck and with gc u shld get good ivs.after cs try and do some observersip under any doctor. If possible i would recommend u to do an observership after ck as u will also learn abt the system for the exam and by the time u finish ur cs and are ready to apply u could also get a us lor.

all the best

Hey GV5 Thank you verymuch for the advice i was looking for this information since a long time.I am An IMG from india working currently in Australia i have 1 year experience in australia and 2 years in uk I have finished my Step I in april i Have passed waiting for the report to come through I have completed Step 2CS i am planning to give step 2CK in august 1st week i am starting my studying now I had got 238/559 in NMBE in step i so i am confident about the step I results
Please advice me will 2.5 to 3 months enough for step 2CK
will i stand a chance to get a residency if my step 2CK is above 90
Is it true that you should apply before sep 4th for step 3 if you want to take the exam in 2007

thank you so much !

Depending on ur choice of residency scores would vary.surgical fields require 95+ scores for a start.Generally based on what i have read in this forum and speaking to pple i gather that scores act as the initial filter in most programs.Programs have their cut offs which u can find by visiting their website or by contacting them.once u get an iv rest depends on ur performance in the iv to get into the program.high scores do help but are not the sole criteria to get into a program.this is what i feel ,u could check out for posts in the match forum

hi there..hope u r fine.i just read ur stuff & really got a big boost.actually i was very depressed from past few days as i got only 78 score in my step1.i gave it in april 2007.i dont know where i went wrong.i m from batch of 2000.i m doing a job side by side.i did prepare for my exm honestly but i never consulted anyone which i think was the biggest mistake i did.i did kaplan notes,BRS series of pathology, beh science.i did kaplan Q bank also.i was not expecting myself even to pass coz i felt i didn't do well. Now i have my score & i m feeling very low.i dont know what to do.whether i should stop here or give step2.Please if u have something to suggest me then i m waiting for it..i shall be very grateful to u.hoping to hear from u soon.....take care!!

Hi gv5,
This is really a nice post,
Has every details for usmle!
G/l to every one

  #42

i think if u look at it in a positive manner u atleast passed the exam.Working hard for step2 and taking the exam is a good option and post that u could decide if u want to continue with usmle. Also for u thngs such as high scores in ck,s3. strong lors, usce and research experience will be helpful to cover up for the low step1 score.i have read of pple with low scores getting into residency in this forum so give it a shot .There are quite a few helpful seniors in this forum.More opinions u get the better it is for u.all the best

  #43
