probably this one has been asked a zillion times before, please let me ask again: 1) which book is excellent for step1 Anatomy? 2) Is Kaplan enough? I was reading upperlimb and finished it in 2 hours on my first read. back in the college days we used to spend 2-3 months doing upper limb alone? (all bones/nerves/vessles/muscles etc) so is it enough or do i need to add other books like SNELL to it (clinical notes) 3) how much of anatomy is tested on step1? rough percentage? currently i am studying kaplan + SNELL (clinical notes at the end of everychapter) + SNELL Review clinical notes!!! 4) also please tell me how do you rate HY Gross Anatomy? thnx

Hey inkspot your problem is so much like mine . BTW , I just ordered Snell Neuro Anatomy about 1/2 an hour ago Have you seen or heard about it ? How do you like your Snell books ? Are they helpful ? I read HY gross anatomy and it is a good book. I read kaplan along with it . HY has more clinical corelates than Kaplan.

interesting looks like i might get hy aswell for anatomy! you know this is how i am doing: i m cutting all the relavent diagrams OFF snell and pasting them on my kaplan! i am doing the clinical notes and questions at the end of each chapter only. not gettting into details of ANATOMY but details of clinical aspects of anatomy! which i think is good! this is making my first read very slow but i m sure that subsequent reads will be faster and more relavent without hassel. now getting to neuro anatomy point! back in the college ! i studied snells neuroanatomy and it was the best interms of diagrams and description! not sure how clinical was it ( used to skip that part) now starting 10th of this month i will start off with neuro and i plan to do SNELL + HY . i might just also get illustrated neurology (might) I know too many books are not recommended but i cant get satisfied when " compartment syndrome" " smith / colles fracture" " winged scapula" " name of carpel bones" palmer spaces etc are not mentioned in KAPLAN alone! more feedback from students here required

Kaplan is not a textbook. Snell's anatomy and neuroanatomy are great, and if you want to get the bigger picture (which I bet u already have from ur undergrad studies) u can go along using any book u want to, but make sure you limit your resources, otherwise it`ll be hard to revise everything one week before your exam. I think HY is good enough and if u need to brush up the rest of the stuff not mentioned in kaplan/HY, U/W and Qbank will do the job.
