Hi Friends,
I finally gave my exam yesterday, and to be honest I had a very negative feeling after coming out...
My exam was tough..when compared to the Q bank..much longer questions and very few straightforward and shorter questions. the 1st and 5th blocks were horrible, Rest all fairly ok-tough with the last block a little easy. for two blocks I finished at the last minute, rest I completed 6-7 minutes earlier so that I got a chance to review the marked questions.
as far as the subjects go..
Anatomy: It was mainly neuroanatomy with a few questions on limb anatomy. Didn't get limb nerve lesions. Scans/ gross pictures on brain..with knee MRI and a couple of scans of abdomen..xray foot. So if u do not have a lot of time for anatomy just master ur neuro and it shd be fine.
Pathology-physiology: This was as usual the bulk with many different case scenarios.More stress was on CVS/ respiratory/ endocrine. ADH/ Aldosterone was tested on everyway it could be..so u need to master its concept. many long questions with loads of lab values and graphs. Around 10- microscopic patho pictures..most of them u could guess from the questions stem, a couple they directly asked what it was. A couple histology pictures. and there was nothing I could do about these..
Biochem: I got a load of weird microbilogy questions with. Lots of questions of metabolism..with focus on enzymes. pathways were shown and labelled and u had to look for the appropriate responses. the genetics qs were pretty ok and straightforward.
Micro and immuno_ Micro I did not get much ..the rest was fairly ok.
Immunology proved to be my nemesis. i don't know what all they asked and it all seemed to be research and lates t things..i don't know how did I survive through the immuno.
Pharma: I agot a lot of Pharmacology: primarily revolving around the mechanisms of actions. Anti cancer drugs...CNS ANS.
behaviour: Most of the questions were doctor-patient. Rest personality disorders. biostats were straightforward.
All in all I am not even sure that I am going to clear it. My first blockw as bad..I got so freaked out . After coming out I am remebering so many questions which I know the correct answeres for but I did them wrong..some simple silly mistakes. I did my graduation 11 years ago and it was difficult getting abck to these subjects again but for now I am happy its over .
My one advise to all of u wd be..in exam u are going to get some very difficult..some fair and some easy questions. Don't let the difficult questions affect ur performance on the other ones. Make a guess and move on and don't worry about them This is what I learnt from my exam.

don't worry about it, you did best and good works.
anyway, is there difference in difficulty of the exam when one take?
for example, front of the year is more difficult than latter one.

Hi dr_ecv!!!I had exam just 2 weeks before you and have about same(99%)feeling as you have after exam...i am really surprised after reading your experience and believe it was the same one..the same first block for me was very very bad and timelimit also i had only 2 blocks done in relax state.other ones just I did in last 30 sec and last question like that...and same biochem wiered questions..and the same silly and stupid mistakes i made and cant forget right now even...i think the only difference is my oasis should update next week and you have to suffer for 3 weeks more.But all I can say is-just now pray,pray and pray...maybe the questions you lost in exam will be from those 50 that dont count  so ...please dont worry and everything should be fine.I am also in same situation and will tell you about my result definately.take care.

hi
iam writing on this for the first time. i also appeared for my exam same week but on next day that is 7th feb. and i am having very similar kind of feelings about the exam. first one was difficult for me too, i had jsut 7 min left to review the marked questions. one important difficulty which i faced was with the cut sections of the brain. they had given such oblique sections which were hard to recognise n havent seen anwhere else.
also they had asked atleast 6-7 questions based on structures in biochemistry. micro. i will say was easier. beh. sc. included a few strange questions like if the wife is diabetic n is not complying to her diet coz she feels its a punishment for the family, what should the doc. advice. i have written to tell her husband to help her out as its not her sole responsibilty.
in each block i could hardly do 30-35 questions in one go. what others have to say about this?
about time management i could save 8-10 min after every block to look at the marked ques.
also take care about the light arrangement so that the lights dont focus directly on ur computer screen, this was the problem at my centre and i was having headache at the end of first block only.

Hi all,
I took my exam couple of weeks back, waiting for the result to come out this week!! Very nervous, GAWD !!! Problem with me was, I did not do Q book or Any Q bank. I took NBME 1 week before main exam and scored 520. Strangely after exam I had a good feeling of doing it well !! But now Im scared to death!!!
My exam, had not many tough Q's, they were all doable.... kaplan notes is more than enough. I committed some silly mistakes too.. i guess around 10, which are now haunting me day and night !! Will I score good?????*******

Some Q's which I got wrong in main exam and haunting in my dreams:
What is the pathological lesion by giardiasis?
A Q on HPV lesion.
Artery along the course of Axillary nerve?
I doubt if I got those acid base balance Q right?
Antibiotic which causes pulmonary side effects?
Influenza drugs?
Q's on Road traffic accidents, I'm not sure if I got them right!
Thats it..... those lengthy Q's, some tough ones- Im confident of doing them right! But, these silly ones if you get them worng, U won't have sleep!!
As I posted earlier, I did only one NBME exam, and going to exam without fully preparing is no less than committing suicide!
I'm just waiting to see how much low my score will go !!
