wait for your result to see which part is your weakness and focus on these, change test center for next exam for luck.

Sorry to hear that. Here are my ideas to pass. ALWAYS FINISH BASICS All you must do are: 1. Knock door and ask "are you ready" for all cases 2. Hello Ms or Mr " family name" all cases, use Ms for female all cases irrespective of their marital status. 3. Introduce yourself and COVER PATIENTS beofore taking history. 4. PAMHUGFOSS for all cases, transitions for all cases 5. wash hands all cases 6. Do heart, lung, abdomen all cases 7. Closure all cases And do more specific based on chief complaint. Most important things is to complete basics. Skip PE and save time (at least 3 minutes) for closures. Closure is the key to pass. CLOSURE: summarize 3-4 sentences, tell 2 differential diagnoses (2 are enough), tell that you need to run some test including...(2 are enough), tell you come back to discuss when having results, advise patients in the meantime (smoking, alcohol, medication, resting) , ask if the patient has any question, tell that my nurse will come in few minutes and say good bye. I did as above and passed in LA.

HOW TO SUMMARIZE: 1. MR OR Mr..., you come here because you complain that you have---- 2. You also told me that you have--- (from history) 3. On PE, I found that... (anormal sign such as hypertension, dyspnea....) enough

Summarize: Thanks for letting me exam you. Now I would like to summerize what I think so far. You have belly pain and fever (2-3 symptoms, I didn't say any PE), based on these information, I think you may have inflammation in your bowel. So I would like to order some tests, like stool test and blood test (2-3tests). After the results back, we will meet again and discuss the treanment. In addition, I would like to suggest you to stop drinking (please consel drinking, smoking and abuse), we have support group, they can help you. Do you have questions?....Enough

hello robin and yinnaw. thanks for the post. i agree with evrything you guys posted. But one thing. why should a heart lung and abdomen be done in all cases. sounds a bit irrelevent for someone who has knee pain or shoulder dislocation due to trauma or headaches. IS it or IS it not irrelevent. may be i think it's irrelevent, I don't know. If that is the general recommendation then i'll do it, but i don't wanna lose points for irrelevant work up. Do we lose points for that? I know we surely lose time when Closing requires a good 2 minutes. they keep saying do a FOCUSED hx and physical, then why Cvs and abdomen in all? i don't understand. i 'm confused.

I don't think every case should do abd exam. But it would be better to do briefly heart and lung exam...Just listen heart and lung ( two places). Firstly focus on main complaint, like if patient has leg pain, firstly exam Leg.

The oasis trick let me get through and register, 99.99% I may have failed. I cannot retake either, because no more funds. Maybe in another four years, when I save my own money, I can retake to apply for a fellowship. Congrats to all who passed!
