Dear buddies
I have one question regarding the this statement.
Will the statement of need in 07 valid for the next Match 08? I ask this question because i am not sure i will match this year, only two interviews.
And certainly it will take my time as well as money under the table to get this statement. I haven't done this process yet. Do you think that i should have this statement now?

What exactly is the Statement of Need and why does one need to have this? Can anyone direct me to where I can get more info on this? Is this required when one needs either a J1 and/or a H1 visa?

It is on ECFMG website. You need it for J1 visa only.

phuluong: I think you can only tramit your statement of need if you have the contract (even preliminary) with your residency program, saying you have the spot in XYZ hospital. Thus, there is no chance to have a statement of need for 2007 and being worried if this will be useful or not for the next match.
