hey kumar well i think everyone advice on this forum is great: Rank dependent one this: 1.) how did you feel during your interview. did you like the location, the staff, the facilites, other residents 2.) what was the attitude of the PD to being a advocate to the residents 3.) clinical/didactic experience....will at the end of 3 yrs be able to pass the IM boards. 4.) fellowship opprotunities and past grads gettin them 5.) detroit is a great town tons of everything in a close distance....WB is a beautiful hospital(one of my favorite interviews) and the top of the community hosp there. wayne is a university program...so more fellowships inhouse But...i would think the most important factor is do you feel you can work there for 3 years?

hey lillyny have you ever been in detroit? I've been there for my interviews this winter. Detroit is a DEAD city. I couldn' imagine that I would see tons of abandoned houses and garbage in a US city. My bus trip from downtown Detroit to Royal Oak where WB is situated was a nightmare. Lots of drug abusers and other crazy looking people asking for money. Royal Oak is a little bit safer. WB is a very, very good program actually targeted by many AMG. They do have some fellowships but it's not an advantage to be their graduate to get the position. Many fellowship seats are filled with outside graduates. I have no idea about wayne state at DMC

dear K1, actually i stayed in southfield for 2 weeks when i had interviews at WB, Providence, st. joseph mercy and wayne state. yeah dead city? obviously if you takin the bus to your hotel and to the interview you didnt get to see what there is to offer...so you dont know what you are saying. yeah the city is old and alot of bad areas but what major city in the us isnt like that.... i understand that WB is targeted by AMG...but kumar and yourself have had an interview which puts him in a great position to atleast rank the hospital. see why would they even interview you if they werent even interested? i understand what you are sayin about fellowships and i agree, but it never hurts to have inside contacts.

thanks everyone for ur valuable responses, really appreiciate it as far as WBH is concerned i am very familiar with the program bcoz i am living in this area since last 1 1/2 yr and i did obervership overthere for sometinme too...i peronally liked the program very much pd is a very nice man and residents are very freindly...the only thing is wsu is a university program with good fellowship options and very strong faculty..and definately u will see more pathology in wayne state then beaumont agree with u guys that detroit is not a safe and nice city to live but royal oak is a quite decent, nice and safe city to live..
