for high risk patients beta blockers are started one month prior to elective surgery to reduce the myocardial oxygen demand..
are patients with peripheral vascular disease included in this group, because i seem to recall reading somewhere in uw that patients with PVD are also give beta blockers one month prior to surgery???

well i think in real life beta blocker are given even to asthmatics n copd patient based on balance btw risk and benefit but board want us to remember simple things like beta blocker are C?I IN asthamatics n peripheral vascular disiese

calcium channel blockers are the preferred agents for PVD
