Sucked into my question trap???? You must now attempt it !!

A 28 yearold patient with a family history of coronary artery disease complains of pain in his hands and a loss of hand strength. His physical examination reveals enlarges orange yellow tonsils, some elarged lymphnodes in the neck and groin, and hepatomegaly. Lab tests indicate and unusually low cholesterol. What best explains the abnormalities in the patient?

A Defective of cholestero transporter ABC-A1
B Defective Apo - A1
C Defective apo b100
D Deficiency of apo-c2
E Deficiency of CETP

As always explain to why you chose your answer.

a. Tangier's disease
transporter defective, can not transfer cholesterol to HDL, plasma cholesterol low.
macrophages are the ones having all cholesterol, all lymphoid organs - tonsils, lymph nodes are enlarged, yellow.
Also lack of cholesterol for myelinisation --> neuropathy
