mesoderm can be divided into the following: 1-axial mesoderm:which will give prechordal plate and notochord which in turn will help in STIMULATING the neurolation and will give to some parts of occipital bone+the remenets will of notochord will give rise to the intervertebral disks. 2-para-axial mesoderm:which will give rise to somites that will give Sclerotomes(vertebrae) + Myotomes will give rise to muscles support the skeleton +Dermatotomes will dive also dermis of each level of the vertebrae.(while epidermis is derived from outer ectoderm) 3-intermediate mesoderm:which will develop into urogenital system(including kidneys ofcourse). 4-lateral mesoderm:which is divided into somatopleuric and splanchnopleuric layers: Spaces within the lateral plate(between the two layers) are enclosed and forms the intraembryonic coelom. now.the splanchnopleuric will give rise to the viscer(spleen,pancreas....)+heart the somatopleuric will give the dermis that enclose the abdominal cavity

great explns, thanks. Dermis are you sure ?=yes,it is derivred from both somatic mesoderm which is located just beneath the ectoderm and mesoderm of the dermatomes of the body. And in the head and neck region it is derived from neural crest cells.
