Hi everybody.

I am a silent member of this forum. I'd like to say thanks to all of you - your posts and experiences helped me a lot.

My test was 29/12, score reported 24/1 - 226/92.

I am a IMG (Serbia) - graduated 2004, finished 1-year internship. I would like to emphasize that I've started learning English language 2 years ago by myself (I am speaking Serbian and Russian), and that was (or that is) my biggest problem (you probably can notice that from these words smiling face). At my college, I was a very good student.

I've started preparing for step 1 in July, and I was studying little longer then 4 months, every day 8 hours at least.
Anatomy: Road map + Kaplan notes
Histology: Road map
neuroscience: Road map
Physiology: Road map
Pathology: Kaplan notes, NMS
Pharmacology: Road map, notes from my college
Biochemistry: Kaplan
Microbiology: NMS, notes from my college
Behavioral science: Kaplan (+ working in psychiatric hospital, a lot of researches, everything was familiar)
Also, I've done FA at the beginnig, and Goljan notes at the end - it was very helpful.

USMLE CD: 48/44/50 (1 month before the test)
NBME 3: 570 (3 days before the test)

Test was similar to NBME 3. I think Road map books are very good, I found the answers on a lot of questions from the test inside these books. kaplan is also good but not enough by itself.

After my test I was disappointed because of very bad conditions in Prometric center (Chicago). There was a lot of noise around me (everybody was doing GRE and typing loud, going in and out), and during 1 and 2 section I couldn't concentrate at all. They didn't have an ear-plugs to offer, just hand-set, but it was not enough, and I was sure I wasn't be able to do anything. I advice to all of you good mental preparation - the conditions in Prometric are so far from ideal.

Everything is possible, if your wishes are big and your will is strong...
Let me know if you have any question, or need any kind of help.

Thank you all smiling face

Zenith, real quote is: "If the wish is big, and if the will is strong,
any dream can become reality"

Mleguy06, in my opinion, Kaplan is ok for Biochemistry (with FA). Everything else, especially pathology (on my test, path was over 20%), needs supplements. I used NMS path, that's a big book, but I think it's good.
Use Golajn HY and FA for all areas, web path and Robins for the pictures. Go to www.usmle.ca - there are a lot of free downloads
that are very useful (microbiology especially). Road map pharmacology and physiology, also neuroscience, are great books. There are a lot of charts and pictures inside. I used the notes from my college as well.
I hope this was helpful smiling face

Glaucoma, cestitam! Pozdrav smiling face
