i took my exam on 11 dec.

i did very bad on my exam

didnt say my clinical impression in more than 6 cases "but did the closure"

was very distressed and shaking.....and the patients could easily notice that...

when i took the otoscope out of the patient's ear the speculum remained inside..!!!!!!...seems that i dont know how to use it, and then....this happend again in the other ear..... shaking head

.."stupid"

missed alot examinations...specially ophthalmoscopic

ran out of time in one case

didnt do summarization...for the 12 cases

my handwriting was extremly awfull...upto that one of the proctor commented on it when she was taking my patient note sad

beside.......... i didnt study well for this exam........just read FA once....practised it 2-3 times with my study group " Moses and Yara....thanks"

I did the OASIS trick...

Our records indicate that you have already passed Step 2 CS or the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA®). The USMLE Policy on Reexamination generally does not allow applicants to retake Step 2 CS if they have already passed this exam or the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment. There are, however, certain exceptions to this policy:

i cant beleive that.....i passed..... shocked

..........is there any thing wrong????!!!!!

i think i dont desrerve to pass...and probably i will not beleive it except after rec. my score report

on OASIS it says " not eligible for permenant validation sticker"

ECFMG status was updaten on ERAS.............................

is there any way else to verify....???????

regardless wht my score report will tell.....thaks God.. nod

Congratulations. I did check too and realised I passed. What you should know is that in any high stakes situation like the CS you tend to undestimate yourself and see only the mistakes that you did. What you fail to see is the good things you did. I did commit some errors, some pretty bad like forgetting to wash hands (Thank God it was for the first patient and I realised it and quickly adjusted and made sure I got it out of the system.)

I also did not really prepare for the exam as I should have wanted and was so frightened during that day that I just did not know how the 8 hours went by. But I think that I managed to do some really good things and moved on with each case without thinking much about errors I did in the past.

The exam basically tests your communication skills, clinical skills and spoken english proficiency. What I tried to do during each case was to:

Knock before entering.
Greet the patient (Forgot to shake hands on so many patients too)
Ask an open ended question.
Show interest in the patient's case and enpathy.
Reassured them always that we will do our best to solve their problem
Was kind and gentle during the exam (Not really easy since everything is chaotic and stressing but do try).
Did the closure for most cases except 2.
Ask for permission before doing anything.
PAM HUGS FOSS and LIQORAAA are perfect.

Got to finish most of the cases on time but got caught up in two of them .
My advice to all.

Practise, practise, practise. It is not about reading guys. I did not practise a lot since I did not have any one to work with but I tried to use a family member a few days before it. Choose one good review and do it.

u r rt tikis...i always felt bad after my exam...due to underestimation of my performance....but this time i felt soooooooooooo Baaaaaaaaaaad.........congratulations for passing ..and good luck for the match

ya i cant forget this scene...the pt. face.........

when the speculaum remained in her ear....i removed it quickly with my hand and put it in the trash...."hoping that she will not notice.....how could she know??..she cant see her ears..SMART wink

then i gave a quick look on her face to see if she noticed....i found out that she is watching carefully wht i am doing through a mirror put in the end of the room.....ooooooops .. raised eyebrow

when i looked to the mirror my eyes met her eyes.i found my self smiling stupidly ... grin

Hey guys..plz someone tell me if had exam in ATLANTA?hows the center and how is the staff and SPs over there?I have my exam in late April and reading right now from FA and then will subscribe UW...and plz tell me-do they mark which type of stethoscope and your appron and all these stuff do you use or what?thanks guys..and good luck for those who didn't take exam yet and congrates to those who has passed already.thanks.
