For Anesthesiology AMA FREIDA says: Length of accredited training 3/4 Minimum number of prior years required 1/0 Offers graduate year 1 positions, available immediately upon medical school completion No What is the prerequisite then in order for an img to get Anesth. Residency? Is this residency very competitive for non-Americans? Thanks,

you get alot of the pre-req of individual programs by emailin them and asking for their requirements. they will tell you usmle min, LOR, USCE and others that they screen from. you can apply for: A.) catagorical anesthesia- all 4 years including intern year B.) advanced- ca1-3 anesthesia, but require you to find a pgy-1 spot on you own. I would say its is much more competitive then past years. i have still seen many imgs on the interview trail though but more and more AMG are goin for it now. I might be wrong but IMGs can still get it but it is still harder. i hope it helps
