Hi, just checked NRMP.
It seems to me, this year, Metrowest doesn't give prematch.
They have 8 positions. On the list of NRMP, so far, still 8 positions.
Any insider here?

Do you think the programs can change the number of positions available for match after Jan 31st? Also do you have any idea whether it is mandatory for programs to reveal the number of positions with which they go to match?
Any info is deeply appreciated

1. The number may change, depend on how fast NRMP computer system updates their databases and how often they refresh the web site.
2. I believe it is mandatory.

Hello Tiger,
I thought that the programs cant change the number of positions after they submit the final quota on Jan 31st. Correct me if I am wrong.
For example program A has submitted its final number as 4 positions on Jan 31st. Can it change the number to 2 or 3 after Jan 31st and give out more prematches??

you are absolutely right in saying the program can't change anything after the deadline tonight. But think for a moment, if a program submits their quota right before the deadline, and NRMP updating programs had stopped running at 5.00 pm EST, and won't be back until 8:00 am EST tomorrow, then the final quota won't show until tomorrow. What if the NRMP system runs too slow, and a large number of programs opt to change quota at the very last minute? The real quota may not be shown to the web site until, maybe Friday.

caseasian, dont be sad about not getting a prematch. Its not over. Most of those who prematch at Metro speak portugese. The good news for you is the program does few IV. So even if the positions are only 5, the competition is not too tight. Dont be fooled by the number of positions. some programs offer 20-30 positions over hundreds of interviews; higher competition. Keep head up, wait, hope and pray. be ready for plan B but also, prepare a bottle of champagne.
