few questions which i thought i would share with u and want to know what would be ur answer
1.why do u want to study only in USA
2u are getting a decent pay( if u are working) or why are not prefering INDIA
3. in case of low scores,they might ask u ...with this score do u think u can get into decent residency program of ur choice
4.how can i be sure that u will come back to india after ur course
5.what if u are rejected

friends now its ur turn to answer...those who got visa plz give us with ur valuable answers

what I think I will answer

1. As US based health system is considered the best in the world, I want to experience it & I want to see wether I can fit into it well or not(by doing observership/externship). I had said that I'm interested in Rheumatology research, which has been extensively done there in US, & not in India.

2. I prefer India, I want to stay in my country eventually, I've studied here for past so many years, I want to Xperience the world best health system i.e. USA & then return to my country.

3. they will never ask this, if they do say Yes I'm hopeful.

4. to show ur stroinger ties to india you have to show that U are financially stable & have a good income/good property in india. & Always emphasize that U want to learn & then bring that knowledge to your country.

5. If you are rejected, dont lose hope, apply again, may be with more reasons to convince the visa officer.

priya onemore doubt...for the question where do u stay...
my travel plan is for 1mth..and initially i mentioned a hotels name in houston but my friends asked me not to mention hotels name instead use hostels address as they say that visa officer would ask that ..for 1mth ur hotel charges are upto 60,000..then what about ur other expenditure...or anything that way
what do u think i should mention..can i tell them that i will stay for 2wks in hotel and remaining 2wks at friends place
or do i have to mention hostel
or as i am expecting an expenditure of 3to4 lakhs ..is it ok if i tell them that i stay whole 1mth in hotel
or anyother suggestions are welcome

Can you get a letter from your friend stating that you are staying with him/her for the whole time? Then money is not issue... or just get the name+ address of hostels and present with a resonable budget. No one will expect you stay in a motel if you are billionaire but they will question your ability to pay for even a Marriott if your fianancial situation isn't strong enough. See how much money you can spend (check your bank accounts and other resources, the ones that you will present to the immigration officer, too and see how much can be spent from those on hotel accommodation) and then make a reasonable budget and pick hotels/motels accordingly. Check the rates as well and make sure you will stilll have money left for food/ cab/ etc...

PS: This is based on my experience, but I have to tell you I have never applied for visa in India, where the customs might be different. I applied for US visa in different EU coutries and and the proccess was the same everywhere.

i THINK WHAT MFUR HAS SUGGESTED IS RIGHT, BEFORE MY VISA INTERVIEW i ASKED MY FRIEND TO WRITE ME AN E-MAIL CONFIRMING MY STAY AT HER HOUSE. Though a few of my friends said that They will be staying in a youth hostel for 3-4 weeks. had I been you I wud have said that I will be staying in a motel/youth hostel for 4 weeks. staying in a cheap motel is certainly affordable( around 600-700$/month) for a month. But if you manage to get a letter from ur friend then I think you can tell them "i will stay for 2wks in hotel and remaining 2wks at friends place". I dont think its a big issue. Dont worry about it too much, they didn't even see that letter I had got from my friend. JUST BE SURE WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO! they don't want confused souls getting a visa. cool
