Hi, I am an IMG from Asia. just came across an old post a few days ago and read a great story of a Mexcian IMG becoming doctor here. He mentioned that he could work as a "House Physician" in Florida and that is the only state allow IMG like him to work as a Physician. It sounds like that was even before he finished his Step 2. Anyone has idea what it is and how that work, requirement? thanks a lot

Hi: Eventually you can work as House Physican in Florida, especially in South of Florida, but previously you should be registered in the Florida Board of Medicine (visit: .http://www.med.ufl.edu/personel/brenda/Housestaff/unlicensed_phy_jax2.pdf) Hospitals that emmploy FMG as House Physician, usually require at least one passing score in any USMLE Step, and it's very important to be "sponsored" by any Doctor of the hospital where you are applying. The payment is not really good, from $13 to $15/hour. Good luck Edd.

Hi Mousa: According to the Florida's Board of Medicine: House Physician; Definition of. A house physician is a person who holds a degree as a medical doctor, or its equivalent, but who does not have and has never had a license to practice medicine in Florida and is employed and paid by a hospital. House Physician; Duties of. The duties of a house physician are variable in different institutions but, in general, a house physician is to assist in conducting the professional work of the hospital by writing histories, doing and recording physical examinations, performing laboratory work, and such other functions as the medical staff feels are within the house physician’s capabilities, such functions to be performed under the direct supervision of a physician who has an active Florida license to practice medicine. For purposes of this rule “direct supervision” means that the supervising physician must be physically present on the premises so that the supervising physician is immediately available when needed. You can get this information from: http://www.med.ufl.edu/personel/brenda/Housestaff... Unfortunatelly, at this moment I don't know about any hospital that is offering a house physician job. But, try to contact hospitals in your area Good luck Edwin Edwin
